Welcome to Our Nursery

Hi and Welcome! We are Phillippa and Becky - The owners of The house that Jack built nursery. We are based in Garston, Watford, on the grounds of the Building Research Establishment - Just a couple of minutes from the M1 and M25! Our nursery is open five days a week, Monday to Friday, welcoming everyone at 8am and closing at 6pm

We are in an old stable block, a safe space for the little ones, with plenty of character.

With a combined 34 years of experience in childcare, we bought the nursery in 2018. Running the nursery is the best job in the world! There is nothing else we would rather be doing than looking after your little ones.

It is amazing to see the children start, settle in, and develop their own little characters. Our main aim is to support and encourage children to reach their full individual potential, in a fun, stimulating, and safe environment.

The education we offer is fun, investigative, exploratory, and exciting. We aim to inspire children and build a lifelong love of learning. Activities are developed around a story of the week, phonic sound of the week, and various themed “tough spot” trays for the little ones to engage with.

We work closely in partnership with parents, and we have an open-door policy so if a parent/carer has any questions we will always be able to answer them.

As managers, we always aim to have a fun, safe environment for our staff. We recruit staff members who are dedicated to childcare and we promote individual development by supporting them to do courses.

We designed the nursery alongside architects and have carefully planned each of our three playrooms around the needs and stages of development of the children. All resources are situated at the children’s level to encourage independence and it allows children to add resources to develop their learning further.
